We are delighted to announce the Foundation is curating a key panel on AI and the future of culture, society and our experience of God at this year’s Greenbelt Festival. This work builds on the ground-breaking work and publications of our Ethical Futures Network. The panel takes place at 1.00 pm on the 27th August.
The panel is entitled: Do believe the hype? culture, society, politics and God in an AI world
A distinguished panel of experts across different fields take a cool and critical look at some of the more dystopian prophecies regarding the arrival of AI into our everyday lives.
They will help us understand what lies behind the media debates, and the key ideas and themes we need to get our heads around. Above all, they will bravely put their heads above the parapet and predict the shape of our future AI world.
How will AI change our relationship to culture? How might it shape our society and ways we do politics or activism? How will it change our understanding of the nature of God or the Divine.
The panel includes:
Dr Eve Poole OBE – author and commentator and author of Robot Souls: Programming in Humanity
Dr Beth Singler – digital anthropologist and AI expert, University of Zurich (member of the Ethical Futures network)
Dr Jennifer George – computer scientist and Head of Computing, Goldsmiths, University of London
The panel will be chaired by Professor Chris Baker, Director of Research for the Foundation.
