A ground-breaking exploratory symposium between local authorities and faith communities will be held at the University of Chester this week and will explore the new policy landscape that has emerged out of the 2008 financial crash and which has been shaped by the policy frameworks of both localism and austerity. The conference is organised by the Centre for Faiths and Public Policy – a partnership project of William Temple Foundation and the University of Chester – alongside Cheshire West and Chester Council, and churches network Link Up.
Senior representatives from Cheshire West and Cheshire, Stoke on Trent, Doncaster, Preston, Durham, Blackpool, St Helens, and Trafford will meet with partners from their respective faith sectors to reflect on the implications of these changes for current and future working practices.
The conference will address the challenges and obstacles that exist towards providing goods and services to enable flourishing and resilient localities and neighbourhoods. Although the conference is a scoping exercise and is by invitation only, a report of the proceedings and outcomes will be disseminated across numerous networks. Keep an eye on the William Temple website for more.
