The William Temple Foundation is a research hub and think tank
We generate ideas about the impact of religion on civil society, wellbeing, politics, economics, and urban change.
Through these ideas we seek to:
Since 1947, the William Temple Foundation has sought to connect Christian social concerns to the realities of the secular world. We are a progressive organisation that seeks to engage a diverse range of religious and secular thinkers; working across disciplines including theology, sociology, economics and beyond. We connect clergy, church workers, community activists and policy-makers with accomplished academics, to learn from one another.
The pioneering vision of the William Temple Foundation is that the church and other faith communities are inspired, in partnership with the public sector, to shape the social order for the common good so that all including those on the margins of society, might live life in all its fullness.
The William Temple Foundation advocates principles for social and economic change catalysing community transformation. Commissioning pioneering interdisciplinary action-research, curating spaces for dialogue and policy-formation, sponsoring doctoral students and appointing research fellows, the Foundation promotes dialogue addressing the issues of the day.
